Emmanuel College, Cambridge-educated, I am a Trainee in the company/commercial team and Founder of Project Cub.
My areas of interest and expertise
I enable new businesses to start up. I provide solid and clear foundations which fit the needs of the company; I tailor articles of association and shareholder’s agreements to work for the business and its future goals. My work balances the needs of a start up with different types of investment. The team works with all types of investment agreement – I focus on start ups that qualify for SEIS, EIS and other beneficial tax structures, such as Entrepreneurs’ Relief.
I also help the partners with a broad spectrum of company work, ranging from litigation support to contract review to share transfers. Most importantly, I make sure the details of commercial documents favour the client and I work at an early stage to avoid problems arising in the future.
I work with clients to establish and enforce their Intellectual Property rights. These wide-ranging assets are often overlooked and my aim is ensure they get adequate protection. I deal with Trade Mark registration and the management of trade mark and design right portfolios, both in the UK and the EU.
I support the Technology team with the assignment and licence of software Copyright, taking into account the moral rights of the author and the potential for personal brand reputation. The variety of issues posed by establishing and protecting Intellectual Property rights is always engaging.
As many clients are smaller businesses, I work to provide solutions for managing trade secrets and data protection.
Why I love my job
Working with clients with diverse business plans, it is important to me to protect and realise their ideas by providing a strong foundation to launch their vision.
I enjoy helping start ups and growing businesses overcome the challenges that they face, which is why I founded Project Cub, the firm’s initiative to work with incubators to boost young businesses with practical legal tips and commercial considerations. If you are an incubator you think we may be able to work with, I would love to hear from you!
